V&A East Museum

Thrilled to celebrate the opening of V&A East Museum in London—and deeply honoured that our project Upcycling Shared Bicycles is part of its Why We Make galleries.

This project responds to the mountains of abandoned shared bicycles left behind by the rapid growth of China’s bike-sharing industry. By transforming existing bicycle components into functional furniture with minimal modification, it asks how design can extend the life of objects while confronting the environmental consequences of mass production and consumption.

To see this work enter the V&A collection and now meet a new audience in London is an incredibly meaningful moment. Thank you to the V&A East team and everyone who helped give this project a new home—and another life.

A heartfelt thank you to Xiaoxin Li, Zofia White, Noel Cheung, Ricarda Brosch and everyone at or was at V&A Museum who supported this project and made its presentation at V&A East possible.
